Picnic in the valley covers an area of approximately 4 km, starting from Uçhisar Town and ending in Göreme town. It is known that wild pigeons were bred according to a certain system in order to meet the fertilizer requirement for use in vineyards and gardens in various parts of Anatolia in ancient times. Due to the soft nature of the rocks in the Cappadocia region, dovecotes are usually carved into these rocks. They are also decorated with different colors and pictures. The Pigeon, which has been used as a means of communication, also has a symbolic value in many cultures and religions. For example, in Islam, after Noah's Flood, a dove brought the olive branch, which shows that there was life outside, and this adds a sacred value to it. In Christianity, when Jesus was baptized, the spirit of God took place next to Jesus in the form of a white dove, where the dove represents the holy spirit. Güvercinlik Valley offers you a magnificent view with pigeon houses carved into large rock masses.
The fairy chimneys, rock formations and churches seen on the right side of the road on the way from Göreme Open Air Museum to the town form the popular face of Kılıçlar valley. Although it is close to the main road and the museum, the walking route of the valley is one of the hidden routes. The route, which continues between the deep and narrow canyon, intersects with the Meskendir valley.
It is at the point that we can call the heart of the Cappadocia valleys. Located at the intersection of Kızılçukur, Güllüdere Valleys and Kılıçlar valleys, which are the most well-known and popular valleys of Cappadocia, and connecting these valleys to each other, it also offers an easy and pleasant walk with its own hiking route, wonderful panoramic points offered by these valleys on one side, and Göreme, Uçhisar views on the other.
The valleys are 4 different valleys and tracks as 3 short tracks in one, which end by merging with the Meskendir valley that runs parallel to the Kızılçukur valley. Each of them offers different historical and natural beauties that must be walked separately. It offers walking tours that you can start from the point you want and finish at the point you want, with quite a variety of different walking route combinations.
Cappadocia is the first valley that comes to mind when it comes to nature and valleys. It is also known as the Kızılçukur sunset point of Cappadocia. The valley is parallel to the Güllüdere valleys and ends at the intersection with the Meskendir valley. As the name suggests, the dominant color of the rocks in most of the valley is red. Tunnels, churches and different kinds of fairy chimneys can be seen along the valley.
